EASTER MESSAGE

HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN! Alleluia! He is risen!

Although Easter Day has passed and gone (for this year), the Church continues in the theme of the risen Lord.  For the next few weeks, we will hear more about the impact that the resurrection brought to the development of the Christian Church. It is clear that the realization of the physical presence of Jesus involved a learning process for his disciples.  Along with his appearances and their discussions among themselves, they were able to understand better the things that he had told them earlier about himself and what was going to happen to him.

The Gospel account continues to be offered for the ‘believing Church’ as it was received by the disciples during the first century.  The Gospels are intended for our learning and encouragement as we attempt to understand the nature of Jesus and the meaning of his life.

Along with the Lutheran and United Church congregations that form the Living Spirit Centre, the members of St. Philip Anglican Church accept the teaching of Scripture with an emphasis on the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We gather for the purpose of offering praise and thanksgiving for the gift of God’s Grace, to learn through hearing God’s Word, and searching for opportunities to be more effectual channels of God’s reconciling Love in the world.

PASTOR'S MESSAGE
The lay leadership of St. Philip Anglican Church made a decision some years ago to share space and ministry with Lutheran and United Church congregations (Living Spirit Centre). The decision was made through the conviction that God intends for the Church to express one faith and one baptism in the apostolic tradition.  At the same time, to offer varied and reliable opportunities for individuals to live out their personal lives in community of worship, learning, and service.  It is the desire of the lay leadership at St. Philip to draw people together through the Anglican tradition with the intention of growing stronger in the sharing of space and ministry with the Bread of Life Lutheran and Eastside United Church congregations.

The Living Spirit Centre is a placed where members of the Anglican, Lutheran, and United denominations are committed to share the resources of space, ministry, and ordained clergy for the purpose of furthering the Kingdom of God as a community.  St. Philip congregation has developed a lay ministry team through the support of interim ordained Anglican clergy and the co-operation of the Lutheran and United Church clergy.  St. Philip congregation is attempting to respond to the need for intentional and mutual ministry through co-operation among existing denominations within the Christian Church.

May God Bless and Keep You,

(The Reverend) Blair Dixon
